Priming 3208T?

Priming 3208T?
So, last week I decided to do some "routine" maintenance on my Bird.
Why is it that I always get into something when I do routine
maintenance? Smile

How do I prime my 87 3208T? I read some posts about a "prime pump",
but I don't know if mine has one. Below is how I got to this problem,
if it matters.

Thanks,
Alan

Here's what happened. I took off my doghouse, which included
disconnecting the guage on the side of the doghouse for the Racor.
Later on, I decided I needed to turn my Bird around so I would be in
the shade. While I was moving it, it started idling rough. Being the
quick thinker that I am, I remembered the hose that was connected to
the Racor. When I put my finger over the hose, it started running
better. I finished turning it around, left it running to go check on
if I had it positioned where I wanted it (now without my finger on the
hose). It then started idling rough again and died.

I finished my maintenance, reconnected the racor guage and tried to
start it, but it seems to not be getting fuel. I'm pretty sure it had
something to do with my disconnecting the guage.

Alan, No project I have attempted on my Bird has gone as routinely as
it should have. On the other hand with the help of my friends I have
gotten it done. If it was mine I have a manual pump right at the
fuel filter. I would remove the filter and fill it with fuel and
then crack one or two of the injector nuts and pump fuel thru the
system and see if that works. Not certain this is correct but its
what I would try until better heads are available. Lets see how far
off I am.

Alan: You need to place a jumper on the oil pressure switch (near
oil filters) and then turn on ignition switch...the facet pump near
top front of the fuel tank should run and you can check by listening
at rear of coach to hear the clicking sound.

If your Facet lift pump is operating you should see positive pressure
on the Racor guage by drivers right knee. You will need to open the
T-handle on the right front of the injection pump to purge air from
the system.

How did you get air into the system...changing Racor?

I'm inside by coach typing this...call Cell 573.465.0527 if I can
help.

If you're only changing the Racor (in '83-up FCS) then change the
filter, leave the T-handle loose on the filter lid, start the
engine, when fuel starts to bubble out around the lid of the Racor
then tighten the T-handle. Self priming.

And the oil-pressure sender on the oil filter on the '87-up (300hp
ATAAC) 3208 is the one with 2-wires, the single wire ones are for
the gauge and KYSOR system.

Priming 3208T?
I have always had just as much luck just refilling the racor with
fuel until it is at the top, put the T lid back on and start the
engine.......kind of hard to start the engines and ask the wife
in "curlers" to tell me when it is "bubbling" out the top. Stop!
Good luck.
