Depending on cost of drive shaft work and amount of farmed out labor, could cost
half as much or twice as much. In my case, about 2/3 cost. Us air cylinder to
control trans net 8 speed fwd with 14% OD.

Mike,

Could I have a little more information? Any Pictures? I have watched the
shop that does my work install Telma retarders, aux transmissions, etc., so
they could do the work. I was just trying to figure how things would fit
together under the bus.

of Palo Duro
Canyon with my 82 FC (10% grade as I recall), was quite a pull. 1st gear the
whole way and
down to about 1850rpms. With a higher gear ratio (I think I have the 5.29)
that pull might

That would be about right if you have 24.5" tires on your coach. That's
just about where I would be with my 22.5" tires and a 4.63 rear end.
BUT...you have a turbo and more power.

I have a factory 4.89 in my 83' FC 35SB and it runs 67mph per GPS at
about 2600rpm. For me that is pretty good, I can avoid being a
major bottle neck for traffic and still have pulling power on the
hills. We took some steep passes in Mexico above 6000ft and were
pleased with the climbing performance.
