Yes, just kidding- probably around 80 pounds or so. You still want to
cradle it with a floor jack or something when you remove the mounting
bolts. I sure hope that it is a bad ground strap or lug. What you are
describing sounds alot like that. When my strap came loose, the wire
was supplying enough juice to engage the bendix relay and starter, but
not enough to spin the flywheel.

If you get into removing the starter, you should also replace the
power and ground straps with 4/0 cable. I think that BBird used
something like 1/0 gauge wire- They supplied power to all of the house
circuits and the starter through that stud on the starter and then up
to another stud on a shunt in the rediline compartment. There is no
way that a 1/0 cable can handle that much current- especially if you
add an inverter or use the rediline on occasion.
