david---- the problems that i had with my power steering were not bad
to repair. first the seal on the power steering pump was leaking. had
to remove the front end to get to it but i made good use of that time
to check and replace things that needed replacing.replace hoses and
belts ,found a crack on the bracket at the fan and made a new one,no
big deal. the real leak was the return hose from the steering box. the
hose that the owner before me replaced it with a hose that was for
water and it was brittle and had several leaks in it. also the fitting
on the steering box was loose. that hose is about 6 ft long and runs
into the front of the battery box on my bird. the filter for my ps is
mounted on the front of my air filter housing and i will check the temp
at a later date. you can bet that my temp will be high also.good news
is that the leaks are gone and the floor in the bus barn is now clean.

now the bad news- to get to the fitting that was loose on the steering
box i had to remove the front seat and the rubber matting on the floor
then remove a small plate that covers the fitting. it was a pain in the
butt, but i used this as a time to look at the mounting bolts for the
steering box and did find one loose,so it was a blessing. look around
