Archive search is back (finally)
Hello wanderers,

My searchable archive of messages from the previous Wanderlodge Forum
was knocked offline several weeks ago by the company that hosted it
for me. Since I had other, higher priority projects, it has taken me
rather long to get it back online.

But now it is back and even better. Better how, you say? The archive
now includes the 49,337 messages from the 2001-2005 forum *and* the
messages from the current forum (the one that is carrying this
message). Not only that, but new messages are downloaded from Yahoo
and re-indexed 4 times a day, so your search will include all
messages save for those in the last 6 hours (at most).

Well, that's the big picture, but here are details you should be aware of:

1. The archive is open only to members of this forum. To access the
archive the first time you have to log into the forum on Yahoo, go to
the Links page, and then follow the link to the archive (it currently
is the first non-folder entry on the Links page).

2. Having used the archive in its previous incarnation does not
exempt you from rule 1. For your first use of the new archive you're
going to have to follow the link as above.

3. Some people have trouble getting into the archive. You can
circumvent this, if necessary, by temporarily turning off your
firewall (Norton, ZoneAlarm, ...) on your first visit to the archive.
Set a bookmark when instructed to do so. After that, re-enable your
firewall and all should be OK.

4. The messages from the previous forum are numbered 1 to 49,337. To
differentiate the messages from the current forum, which started
numbering again at 1, I have added 100,000 to the current forum
message numbers. Hopefully any confusion caused by this will be slight.

5. All of the messages from the current forum are not yet in the
archive, but they are being added at a rate of 2800 per day. So by
the end of the day on Friday, September 2, the archive will be caught up.

Hope you enjoy it.
