Jerry, (and others)

I had my 85PT40 done with Imron in the original pattern/style back in 2005
for around $9500. In the slow economy, you will probably find shops willing to
work for a little less- and they will be grateful for the work. My job isn't
perfect, but it looks original. The shop that did mine was Kolors East in
Myerstown, PA.

about $25k-$40k. While I'm sure the workmanship is outstanding, it's tough to
cough up $30k for a paint job on an 85 PT40 that NADA books at $27k. It's one
of those things where you'll never, ever get your money back.

There can never be a replacement for the superior quality of USA craftmenship
and service. Kind of the reason Canadians buy Wanderlodges.

beyond 5 years and they still look good. He has gotten better with removing
external items such as awnings. I would not hesitate to have my unit painted in
his shop. The cost difference is in the labor not the paint.

Mike, I agree with you 100% many folks compare Mexico price savings and do not
qualify the level of value they contracted. the damage is that good United
States dollars goes out of our economy.

Trade is fair but to compare price without qualifying is damaging to the good
harworking environmentally compliant USA craftman. Unlike your friend, The
average consumer has not the time or knowledge to make management inspection of
the prep and coating process. I bet you friend will be screeming once again in 5
to 7 years.

The best thing about owners looking at their paint prep is they always feel the
need to rub their greasy hands on the prep.

and personal, but it was very well done. However, that owner spelled out
exactly what he wanted done up front and he went in each day during the process
to inspect the work and to point out anything that was unacceptable or not the
way he wanted it. The end result was a *very* good paint job. And for the price
that owner paid, it was beyond a screaming deal, that he could not have touched
in the states.

Guesss where most of the good painters and body men originate? Yes they are
Mexicans. Just tour any of the West Coast RV mfrs. ( not many left) and all you
see are Mexicans in the paint shop. At one time they did not remove awnings but
now that is being done. I bet they could do a nice flame job on one of you dump
trucks!!

Being as Stephen jumped in I will add some to my last post. Greg: We do not have
much of a MH industry in Canada. Smaller population and hard working people who
do not have the "toys" that you Yanks enjoy. But if we had built Wanderlodges
they would have been better!!! Think of the Canadarm ! I also agree with Stephen
that the later model BB's are not good units.

We just had our FC dinette and sofa recovered in Mexico. The owner of the shop
drove 65 miles to my shop and looked at everything before I removed the piecs.
When the job was completed they returned and the 3 of us reinstalled everything.
The workmanship was amazing and the cost at least 40 % below American prices.
The owner told me he heard about shops that used to use straw and burrow dung
to fill cushions. This is a Mexican urban legend from the 50's!!

Our 1984 badly needs new paint. We're intending to go to Mexico and Central America later this year after sorting out all the mechanicals.

We're thinking to get the bus prepped and painted down south somewhere where the labor is cheaper.

We were trying to settle on a color scheme and finally came up with this:

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Any non-obscene comments are welcome.

Hmm... Another Greg (me) would love this choice as well. But a big rainbow bus is, IMHO, essentially asking for over-zealous law enforcement people to pull you over.
