Alternator Question??
I have a 1994 40'wb. When I have my alternator switch on the dash in
the middle position when starting the bus I read about 150 amps. But
when I turn the switch to alternator 1 or alternator 2 I the needle
does not move. It stays on `0'. What does this mean? The bus runs
great.

Don't understand your 150 amps but, you probably have one or more
relays that are bad or circuit breakers that are in the alternator
gauge circuit. Call Benny and have him send you the wiring diagram.
There are at least two circuit breakers that could be your problem
right after the shunt on the firewall. There are also 6 relays in the
inverter/battery compartment, right at the top left that control the
ammeter.

Alternator Question??
i'm not so sure about that switch.i'm working on a 1990 wb and it has the
switch.i just replaced both alternators with new 160 amp leece-nevilles,the red
light stays on and the switch does the same as yours.i know the alt. are
working,i just don't know what powers the switch and the light.as long as the
alternators charge i'm not to worried about the switch. randydupree93wb

The six relays either control which alternator you are running or
the ammeter circuit. Could be both. I'm studying the wiring
diagram that Benny sent me.

Alternator Question??
I believe that the switch and relays connect the gauge across either
one shunt or the other, bad relays would cause erratic readings and
are a cheap place to start.

Alternator Question??
keep us advised please! the leece-neville alternators are a one wire set
up.meaning you don't need a wire to excite the unit.they use a ground wire,and
the main battery wire.when you rev the engine to 1000 rpm or so they self
excite.so,i'm thinking that those relays and switch will no longer do anything
for my bird.that switch and all that stuff is cool, but not really needed! i
never touch the switch in my 93 wb..randydupree93wb
