If they are located under the valve covers then my Jake will continue to work like it does--does not do anything. I have driven to and from Montana for 5 years without one and with all those grades have done pretty good. It is always a heads up to watch my speed, rpms, oil and water going down and to not burn up my brakes.

Based on my friend's experience with his 6V92, the solenoids - six in number - are under the valve covers. They deactivate six (exhaust or intake?) valves which adds drag within the engine providing extra braking. The external part of the system is the switches and wiring that deliver 12 volt power to the solenoids.

Apparently the shop considered failure and repair of the solenoids to be pretty routine for a DD with Jake.

At least that is how I understand it.

They can't deactivate intake valves in the head of a 6V92 or any other 2 stroke
GM diesel - because there aren't any there! There are exhaust valves, though.

John Alldredge, who knows a very tiny bit about DD Two strokes.

Good site,
When we get done with our workcamping gig at Ft. DeSoto, I'll take it in in
Tampa and get it done.
I will report back just what was done and where the stuff is located.

Bob, if you could take a couple of photos, that would help me out. The version from the website was all blacked out on those photos, that I saw.
