				Air Filter--Whodathunkit?

that can cause a malfunction or problem and fixes them first, to prevent problems in operation. I'm taking a trip to Rhode Island in a few weeks and have been going over my service records. I just replaced the air filter in my 3208 NA Cat about 11,000 miles ago, so it should still be OK. Removed and inspected it and YIKES! I can barely see light through it. I got a new one and I can clearly see light though it and, comparing the 2, my old one is really dirty. Ick. Just a reminder, don't go by miles alone on air filters. Remove and inspect them regularly. They're a key to performance, mileage and engine longevity. I haven't been driving in conditions that appeared to be that dusty. I'm changing the fuel filters, too. ;o) George Witt 81 FC 35 Lincoln, Nebraska--Huskers Host of the August 7 Lincoln, Nebraska Parking Lot Rally. |

Good find George, air is free power.

Rip the plasic fins off of the top of that filter too, not the original filter (without fins is discontinued) and blocks airflow. - Jeff Miller http://www.wanderlodge.net --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "mrdonut12" <mrdonut12@y...> wrote: > I'm a very careful mechanic who constantly looks for things > that can cause a malfunction or problem and fixes them first, > to prevent problems in operation. > I'm taking a trip to Rhode Island in a few weeks and > have been going over my service records. > I just replaced the air filter in my 3208 NA Cat about > 11,000 miles ago, so it should still be OK. > Removed and inspected it and YIKES!
