Generator Battery Not Charging
Shouldn't be, just a diode and breaker. If that's not within your
comfort zone, put a small battery charger on the generator tray and
plug it in, when the genset runs you'll have battery charging.

Do you know that the original charging is not working? Might be that
the battery was shot?

Jeff and all,

I've been doing that for almost 4 yrs (small batt charger on the gen set
batt). Just part of my routine. (I replaced the big diode a while back, and
it
worked for a while, but it failed again...the 110v AC batt charger in the
gen set batt compartment works fine for me),

Mr Miller
We bought a new battery after bringing it home from Holland on March
18th, they put a used one in and it was junk.(It was free though,
wanted new one but Al said this one was good) We have tested it with
the generator running and shut down,12.24 volts is the highest it
read any time, tested it several times since bringing it home. The
number stays the same each time when you shut it down, dosn't rise or
drop when stoped. Maybe this is normal?
Thanks Jeff

If it's charging from the original setup, not enough current to
really tell. An hour or two of genset run-time should tell, if the
voltage remains the same or increases over the hour or two, there is
some charging current (albeit weak). If there is no charging at all,
the current that the genset uses for the fuel solenoid and control
circuit will lower the voltage measurably.

Do not measure immediately after starting, the starting current will
have caused a temporary low-voltage, wait about 5minutes for it to
stabilize.

Yeah, real money is a rare commodity. The evil of good is better, lose the
bird, keep the GM. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong. $25K is about the
top of the cash market, and that will be small denomination and well worn bills.

Thanks, Ernie. So far a lot of wanters but no $$$. Hard to get
loans for something like that. "Bankers" don't know what to do if it
isn't listed in a book.

i find it odd that a 20-25 year old genset does not work as good or better than
it did when new! and you would have to fix it or add a
part.hmmm..randydupree93wb POB??
