Does anyone know if there is a sight glass on the dash ac system
anywhere that
can be gotten to easily? Also the capacity of the ac system on a 90SP?
Thanks Tom 90 SP36 Alpharetta GA

Hi Tom,

I just converted my old system over to 134-A. I pulled a vaccuum on
the system and it held for 8 hours. When I filled it, she took about 5
lbs of refrigerant and oil. Your SP36 should take between 4 and 5
pounds if you evacuate it. I could not find a sight glass anywhere in
my a/c lines. Seems to be maintaining around 40 degrees out of the
vents.

Shane,

When I switched the dash a/c over to 134, only "hardware" update was
a new expansion valve.

Pulled a vacuum on it for a while, then filled system with 38oz of
R134. Works like a champ!

5 pounds is a lot more than what I used. Did you repace the roof top
condenser with something larger?

Tom,
If the compressor is a "stand-up" vs. "laying down round cylinder" it is
most likely a York. The York has the two High/Suction lines or ports on
the flat top of the compressor. Remove the compressor and take it to
maybe NAPA in your area, or to an Automotive Air conditioning supply
house. You may need a new clutch too. I just paid $200 for my York
compressor and $100 for the clutch. Get a new dryer, take the old one
with you.
