Birds and birds

From my location between the front and back channels of the Yellowstone
River here in Montana, I see many birds. The kind that we own are
pretty rare as the birds of prey that fly overhead. I have been
watching a bald eagle lately around my location. I feel really
priviledged to witness this beauty in its qwest for food. Life is

You aint seen nothin yet!! The birds here are unbelievable! Birds
we have in Zoo's in USA are wild here; cockatoo's maybe a 100 of
them, large white ones behind our house. Other birds, looking like
parrots are wild and plentiful here..unbelievable!
That gets me to an idea and let me plant the seed here and now and
get some comments from Forum members. Recommend everyone tour
beautiful Australia during a lifetime. Details:
1. costs about $15,000 to ship a bird to Australia(BLUEBIRD)
2. probably $15000 would buy us an OLD bird in USA.
3. BIRDS must be 30yrs old to ship here without modification.
4. takes about a month or two tour all around Australia.
The seed; get about 10-12 INVESTORS to chip in $3000 each.
We buy a great bird, preferably a 1978FC31, fix it up in USA and ship
it here. That's $1500 per husband and wife/partner etc.
Each investor entitled to use BIRD here per guidelines set up by and
agreed to by INVESTORS.
We can keep the bird here at our house. We have a home with bus
parking 100 Kilometers East of Melbourne, Australia; Drouin, Victoria.
Investor can stay here a few weeks with hookup to get bearings etc.
before departing on trip around Australia. Hopefully, six to 10
investors would use the BIRD each year.In addition, they could bring
another couple to share the expense etc.
Take a chance in life..to me this is a once in a lifetime opportunity
that WE FORUM members can make happen!

Insurance, third party only required is cheap..$130/yr and full
towing is $180/yr. Shared by all.

ANYWAY it is a seed and hopefully I will get some comments...probably
good and bad....

I have to comment. First I must say that the concept is a great one.
I just think there are so many obstacles in the path to a happy
ending. We don't share toys well and don't like the same things in
an RV are two to start with.

What kind of modifications is needed for newer birds?

I think this is a great idea and I would like to be on the list for
potential Bird Tourists.

I just returned from Fiji and your corner of the world is unique and
friendly towards Americans. Meet lots of Australians and they were
great. I told the wife New Zealand and Ausralian are just around the
corner from here lets keep going west!

As with any rental, time share idea, in this case a Bird of any type
would work for the time you would be using it.

How available are drive train components. What engine type is easy to
get fixed down under? Maybe you could give us some insight on getting
an American RV serviced and repaired in Australia.

Once the group has finished with the coach it could be sold to recoup
some of our investment.

Cat engine. Tim and I will spruce up the interior and exterior.

Does every Australian CampingWorld carry the Big highheel shoe ?

Could you picture MikeH ;running the outback ;smoking a RushLimbaugh
cigar ;ammo criss crossed over a vest ;and all that silver lamay
fabric streeming off the bus?

Don't let it eat your dogs. ;-) I have a dog (if you can call it that)
that'd be gobbled up real quick by any bird of prey. I lived in the
Puget Sound for a year and once watched a large hawk circle directly
over my Chihuahua. Needless to say he didn't get to frolic in the yard
by himself much after that.

Australians are very friendly towards Americans, a bit less than
before IRAQ but they still like us and are very helpful.
It is a beautiful country and one can free camp in many places around
the entire country. I have been around Australia twice and up
through the middle twice in my motorhome.
Modification to newer bird less than thirty years old consists of a
minimum of changing it from left hand drive to right hand drive among
other things...it can get expensive...
Australian mechanics are very capable and helpful..Many CAT dealers
here along with Cummins and DD. many 3208"s here.
I have had two older birds, 77 & 80 FC's and think an older bird
would be better to bring over. As far as I know, there is only one
BIRD in this country a 1983 PT owned by a guy in Queensland..he had
the modifications done....
