Yep there are a few of us die hearts that will hold on to our

investments knowing that its the love for the machine and not the

Buyer's market
Vintage Birds is a good example of sellers who are lost in some time warp. Many
of the
prices are just so far from reality that it is a joke. I notice some that have
been for sale for
well over a year. A BB is not an investment. At least not a $ investemnt. It may
be an
investment in: joy, fun, learning, frustration and ultimately enjoyment and
satisfaction.
There ere plenty of Birds that are not on vintage Birds with the same high
expectations.
They are not selling. But I bet if the prices dropped these babies would indeed
sell. If I were
selling my Bird I would try and price it to sell. That would probably mean I
would take a big
loss. But what other choice is there? You either want to sell or decide to keep
it. Advertising
at a high price simply scares a way potential buyers. BB's are not OJ futures
that may recover
their value. It will only get worse.

Indeed, there's a '93 PT-40 on Vintage Birds (with All Birch Cabinets) that was being offered at $159,000 before I purchased my '95 (for $40,000 less) nearly 2 years ago. I see that it's now "reduced" to $109,000 but I suspect that price is still on the high side.

I would appear to me that nothing is selling. If you check e-bay,( and
it could be argued that e-bay is a test of the real price point on most
any thing and especially vehicles)you will see what a BB is worth in
todays market. If I was in the market I would offer 50% of what is
being ask for many of these BB's. Anyone think I wouldn't walk away
owning one? Problem is I'd be owning two of them which is one of the
things stopping me, plus the fact that I have all that I need and feel
pretty attached to my ole buddy "The Napper". So I'm with Jon. I
ain't much worried about it. I knew from the minute I considered this
a couple years ago that I wasn't buying an investment (money
investment). As to investment in fun and interest? Worth every dime
and then some. Look at what is happening with the stock market. At
least I can feel and touch and enjoy the money I am lossing on the
Napper.

Its a smart sellers market also. With prices realistic it is a
goodtime to move up to another unit. Too many folks want to score on
their sale and score on their new purchase.

ie; If a 88FC ower sold it 3 years ago at $45,000 and moved up to a
99LXI for $260,000 moveup cost would have been 215,000. todays market
that cost with a $22,000 sale and a 150,000 purchase would be
128,000. Even if you are getting out of RV'ing your money will go
farther for the next toy.

I bet the first folks to show good prices are the dealers.

Well before we get oft the subject of lost dreams and other things? I
just wanted to state here that part of the reason that I'm not
looking for another rig is that just to buy another rig I would haft
to pay sales tax on another unit. Our sales tax up here is about 8%
Plus License tabs. Well it doesn't take to much figuring out that if
you got a deal on a 40,000 dollar rig your taxes would probably be
around 3,200 dollars plus then the license tabs of 100 dollars. Nope
my old Scottish background says to me that McJon say put and put what
ever you have in your fuel tank as you can go along way by not moving
up! Himm I found diesel at 4.01 near here and I just can't figure out
why just a few miles down the road fuel is selling for more that 4.50
a gallon. Jon

There is an 89 from Florida that we checked out 5 years ago. That individual has finally lowered the price below 100 grand. That unit was worn out when we saw it at RIV.
