Pewee's Big Adventure

Pewee's Big Adventure
Nice looking coach...the build-out is to enlarge the old engine
compartment which contained the industrial strength Ford 534 gasser
and now houses the larger CAT 3208; well done; even the front
bumper is extended.

Is the CAT 3208 Turbo'd? What kind of Generator; diesel or gas?

Should be a good performer...take it to Maxton next year and match
race with MH or Randy D.

Yea, I thought that a while back when I loaded up my trailer with a pile of tile
pulled it out and blew out the tranny in my Dodge with Cummins diesel. You can
buy tires all around for the price of a new tranny. For the most part those
folks rolling down the road with those huge 5er's are well overweight. I was at
the time. It's better to have a Bird.

Scott, I have to assume that additional space for the engine was
needed. You know one of the things that has been running thru my
mind is today not years ago but today why couldn't you use a pickup
engine and transmission? I know these BB are bigger and heavier but
isn't horse power horse power? You look at what a 1 ton pickup is
dealing with pulling a big 5th wheel and I was just thinking.

I got'er home safe and sound. It was of course an adventure but it
went better then expected. Took me about 13 hours driving time. I
took it pretty easy (tried to keep about 55MPH) First part of the
trip the ole heart was pretty much in my throat but but the end I was
starting to relax with it. Odd how thinking too much works against
keeping that thing centered on the road. Coach is every bit as much
as I hoped for and it performed without a hitch the entire trip.
Thanks again for all the help and encouragement. There doesn't
appear to be a lot to do but there are a couple issues I will need
some advice on. Think I'll get a good nights rest and spend tomorrow
playing with her a little. Thanks again.

Pewee's Big Adventure
Congratulations John,

Keep her between the white lines, You will be more comfortable
after about 2,000 miles. Even our old brain can take on a new imprint.
Driving will become a very natural instinct.
The backing up takes a little practice.

Congratulation from all of us out here in the Northwest!

Looks like I won't have the most unusual Wanderlodge on this site
anymore. I like how the previous owner install that engine and he
must have quit a few big bucks in the process.

Well anyway have fun with your new coach and hope to hear lots of
good reports about your new rig!

John,

Congradulations! Maybe you can make it to the NYC area rally Columbus
day weekend, this Oct. There will be a full range of years and models
to see!
