RObert,

There is some info on the safe in the Files section.
The combo can be changed if the safe is open,
If it is locked shut, this could be expensive.$$$$
Do you know a safe cracker or a friendly Burglar???

Mine was unlocked but since I didn't have the special key to reset the
combination I took it
to a locksmith. It took a week or so since he himself had to order the special
key, but he
reset it for $50.

open.

Dale: I just went through this problem. Do you have the original safe
manual? Try using the factory setting. The mfr. also told me that if
that does not work try going just over the #. For instance if it calls
for left 40 4 times, try 41. Hope this helps.

Dale, If all else fails, I can walk you through removing the safe and opening it
from the back. A little involved, but it will work. Best Wishes, Doug Engel,

Hi, I'm new here. I've been lurking about reading posts for a couple
days and posted some pix in the photo gallery last night. I don't own
a bird, but have been hired to help restore and upgrade one. I'm on a
quest to eventually be an expert on these, so reading through these
informative posts is very helpful.

My customer has the same problem with his safe. I'd love to be the
hero and get it open for him. Neither one of us have any info on this
unit & don't even know how many number sequences to look for, nor do
we know whether to start by turning CW or CCW. If I remove and open
from the back, can the tumblers be observed & correct combination be
figured out then? Who knows, maybe I'll find a million dollars in
there & can retire early Smile. Tim

Tim,

There is some info. on the safe in the files section of this forum.
Try this link. cut & paste

A lock smith, safe cracker is very expensive, The best idea someone
posted is to remove the safe, cut a hole in the back, and Yes, I
have opened the rear cover of the combination lock and reset the
combination. I did not have a safe combination , but fortunately our
safe was not locked.

Thanks! The link didn't work, but I found it where you said (in the
files section). I printed it up and will try it next time I'm there.
Wish me luck. Tim

I'd bet on the money being in D.B. Cooper's safe. He's been roaming around in a
Bird since he jumped out of that jet plane. I hope you both have
success opening your safe.
