Roadside assistance
Well, I have the Good Sam Emergency Road Service (ERS) and I called
them twice in one day (different problems -- and it was a baaaad
day). They were prompt and the service provided what I needed.

I've heard good things about FMCA ERS ... so I may move to that one
when my Good Sam ERS expires.

Avoid the AAA memberships ... they don't really do well with RVs,
even when you have the RV add-on. (I've been a CSAA member for 30
years... but I didn't add my coach to my AAA card.)

PT 40 must have prop shaft removed or vehicle placed on low-boy
trailer. Otherwise you'll need a new transmission.

Hi Howard,
I have been using Coachnet from FMCA... I have used them with the Bird and with
a previous SOB... They cover the BB and all my cars as well... I have used them
a few times, ranging from replacing tires to jumping the batteries to get the
coach running... The only thing I have paid for was any parts or the tire when
it blew out...

Roadside assistance
I have just switched to Coachnet after a terrible situation with
good sam. I posted about my experience several months back. My coach
was towed about 95 miles on a flat bed called a landall.

Good sam used to be a very good ers, but have sold out to Affinity
group and turned to mush!!

Can't you just see about six or eight fellows at Coach-Net sitting around a big
conference table and one says to the others " are you sure you fellows can't
think of a better way to hide the exclusions and confuse the customers.

I saw your note about an experience with good sam road service. I
recently bought an old BB and got sam's road service. haven't had to
use it but if there are problems or better options, I would appreciate

I thought about this Howard and after reading of some peoples post on
the internet of going to veggie oils and other concoctions to burn in
their diesels and adding transmission fluids to their diesel fuel
"for lubrication" (which by the way is not recommended by DD ) , and
not performing yearly preventative maintenance on their coaches, I
can understand where coach-net is coming from.

It gets expensive towing a large motorhome to a garage and then the
mechanic finding out the Racor is plugged with algae or sludge (been
there done that this year), or finding out the transmission went out
because the fluids were low or the filters not changed, or the coach
had an engine fire because someone rewired a gadget in their coach
that did not meet the national electrical codes.
What concerns me is that this is a large loophole for coach-net. Will
they start giving guidance to the tow agency and mechanic working on
the motorhome to look for these possible problems and then one of us
getting stuck with a really large towing bill?
