Hello Everyone:

The June Rally in Oklahoma had to be changed to July. So the following is
the who what when and where.

Date; July 18th/19thand 20th
Place: Red River RV Resort, Thackerville, Oklahoma
URL: http://www.redriverranchrvresort.com/Default.asp
Rally Rate for 50 amp and full hook up is $18.00 per night Rally rate
covers 2 nights before and 2 nights after Rally. There are no cabins.

Wind Star Casino is very near and has 4 restaurants and I can have a
courtesy van limo come to the park if wanted for groups.

So this is how it is working out at present.

Fri night we can either eat at the Casino or ( my fav) do a pot luck salad
for dinner at the Rally room.
Sat morning, the usual pot luck breakfast and business meeting, visiting,
Charolette is putting together a small crafts thing if wanted and we guys
can go over preventative maint schedules. Lunch on our own and Coach tours
or not. It will be on the warm side so opening the Coaches may not be a
good thing and keep them cool. There is a very nice swimming pool and hot
tub thing with an adjoining sitting area covered. A mini golf area and the
nearest golfing my be Gainsville, Tx Saturday night will be hamburger nite
with Bim Burt and I doing the cooking. As in the past the cost of item for
the Sat nite meal will be prorated such as meat buns condiments. We have
the items from Eric and Mary Ann (thank you) to be used such as plates
silverware and so forth. Pot luck side dishes are expected to go with
burger nite, So gals if you want to wear those poodle skirts go ahead.
(grin) this I gotta see?! There is a pool table in the Rally room as well.
Sunday morning will be donuts and juice and coffee so there is not the
usual rush to pack up and leave. check out time is 12 Noon.

The theme for this Rally is enjoying the fellowship and keeping things
super simple.

Red River Resort is located five miles into Oklahoma up I-35 and exit 1 or
5 can be taken to get to the RV Resort.

More info to come as we get closer. Please, please let me know if your
going to attend so I can get with the Resort for the spaces. I will make
the reservations for you, you will need to stop and pay for the nights
spent on the way in. We do need a minimum of 10 Coaches to attend to get
the rates and rally room. Charolette and I have sent in the cleaning
deposit and with the help of Bim and others this will be just an easy going
time.

Charolette and I look forward to seeing everyone.

All,

I'm thinking of a sheepskin cover for the driver's seat. Any thoughts good, bad or indifferent? Best source?

All,

Sorry to hear about the demise of Wanderlodge. Although I'm not that old, I've studied the history of Packard. While there are important differences in the circumstances, there are similarities. Both werepassionate about seeing how good they could make things, rather than fitting into some bean-counters' marketing strategy. Both had high standards of engineering, materials and overall quality. While they didn't always succeed at meeting every standard they set, I believe they tried for the most part. Despite corporate failure, both companies will live on indefinitely in the fine automobiles they produced.

Regarding air springs: I haven't even thought about my LXi, but on my Newell, they(Goodyear) needed replacement at about 16-17 years. Like many things, I believe the more they are used, themore likely they are to approach their design-life. Sitting immobile in heat, cold and moisturemust be as bad on air bags as it is on tires.

Regarding my refrigerator (now it's all about me): Did the same thing this time. Toward the end of our our trip (Day 5) it started warming up. Nothing we did would stop it. We switched from AC to LP and back again. We shut down and re-started. I could hear it light and run. It seemed to do better standing still than going down the road but that's the only clue I have.If we were on generator going down the road or on LP it kept on losing ground. There are 3 things that I know of to suspect: A. Cooling element. B. Circuit board C. Automatic shutdown (when door is open too long...also probably under B. ) Any other thoughts or diagnoses? I also lostmy compartment lights and locks and my landing lights on both sides, while they indicated "on" on the dash.I ran through the schematics for the right fuses and breakers but they all seemed okay. Strange.

Finally, HendersonBeach State Parkat Destin is as nice as any pay-park we've been in (including Long Island at Port Isabel). It has no TV, WiFi or Golf, but great sugar-sand beaches, security, friendly staff, daily-maintained grounds, wide, long parking places separated by heavy scrub vegetation between spaces, clean shower rooms, great dining, shopping, walking and sunsets. We got there a night early, so they let us dry-camp in the day-use parking lot on the grounds for nothing. It's also across the street from WalMart and Hertz if you rent like us rather than tow. And for less than $25 a night, we thought it was a bargain. You have to reserve well in advance throughReserveAmerica.
