Slideout Problems

Slideout Problems
I have a 2001 Xl and have had a lot of problems with the slideout, it
has been the safty switches, the seal, or the leverlers not working
It goes from one thing to another. Dones any one know if these models
are having above average problems.

I haven't heard of any problems. I have an '02 LXi and the
slide and landing gear have been reliable, both are made
by HWH. I'm not sure what technology the '01 LX uses -
in house or HWH.

Slideout Problems
David, I've had several issues with our 2005 (3 slides) so it is hard
to remember which was which. I do remember we had several problems
with our 2001 LX. The factory autorized Holland Motor to replace the
seal. I remember it took 2 men 12 hours. The second problem was with
alignment. Wendel and/or Jessie at the factory found it neccessary to
make very small adjustments. The slide caused some interesting delays
when it would not retract. After these 2 major fixes we did not
experience any more problems. I wish you well in finding the gremlins.

I think when Bluebird dropped the sporlanValves they put in slides

Slideout Problems
We had several slide issues with our 2000 LXI. In the process, we
learned that the previous owner had been to the factory for a NEW
SEAL, and also for some repairs to the slide finish because of BB
engineering and Owner operation issues. We took it to HWH twice
before we got to the root of the problem. BB had improperly
installed the NEW SEAL generating a host of expensive problems for
us. HWH installed another NEW SEAL and showed us how the job had
been botched by BB. I haven't gotten around to bringing it to the
attention of BB management yet, but, in fairness to them I will be
contacting them for their response.

Slideout Problems
I think one of the problems with the pneumatic seal is
over pressurizing. When the seal is installed the air pressure
regulator must be adjusted to 15 to 17psi max, anything above
this will cause the seal to ultimately fail. This info is from
HWH. I believe most factories, BB included, tend to
over pressurize the seal to ensure complete contact around
the entire slide body. The fact is, a new seal needs to
stretch, and will in time. If the seal does not make compete
contact initially, it will as it stretches. We must resist the
temptation to over inflate.

For slide issues I'd recommend going directly to HWH and
skipping BB.

Dave, the airpressure concept is hard to realize. Most think low
numbers of airpressure has little force and 17 is the same as 19. I
have a airbag that I pressurize to 12 psi to lift concrete swimming
pools back to level. When you guys work out the slid kinks please
document the repairs as I may need them in 2012.
