No amps reading on #2 alternator

No amps reading on #2 alternator
Today we checked out further the output of a re-built alternator on my
92WB. Found out it is putting out just fine, but not indicating at
the ampmeter on dash. We determined that the instrument was O.K..
George at BB indicated problem could be circuit breaker or Bosch
Relay. No problem with circuite breakers, but unable to tell which
Bosch Relay is involved.

There are 6 in a row in the battery compartment and all are wired the
same and with color codes that are identical. Short of trial and
error replacement, anyone have any experience with the problem or know
which relay it is?

Thanks,

Ron there should be nothing between your alternator and the amp meter other
then the shunt. When the current from the alternator passes thru the shunt
it produces a very low voltage drop across it proportional to the current
and its this voltage that is read by your dash amp meter. I suspect you may
have a wire off at the shunt or a bad connection(wire) between the chassis
and the dash. What year is your coach?

Tom: I have a 92WB40. According to George in service at BB, when
the wire comes off the shunt, it is routed through a circuit breaker
and relay on this coach. Alternator #1 shows up just fine, but not
Alternator #2. I believe the dash switch probably controls the
relay switching between the two alternators.

I have not check the switch, and I guess that could be possible, but
when we switched output wires from the alternators and I got a good
reading then for #2 which was actually #1.

Ron I am not familiar with the dual alternator setup on the PTs. But I am
willing to learn . Cant figure out why they would want to run the wire
thru a circuit breaker and/or a switch after the shunt? Doesnt the output
of both alternators go thru the same shunt?

It appears to be two separate shunts.

I don't think it was an option until '88 Ernie (not sure on the year).
