Generator Won't Start?
Mike, try to operate the solenoid with a 'porta power battery pack'.
The solenoids need major amps to open but low draw to remain open.
If the battery pack opens it ( click) try and start. If you can
remove the PPBP and the fuel stays open ( genset continue to run), it
may be bad connection issue???(not enough guts to open) Note this
will bypass all the safty Murphy shut down devices as they cut the
power to the FS to shut down the system.

On a jobsite repair , I have run a wire from the starter power (
between Starter sol. and starter motor) to the fuel shut off , to
give a faulty FS more push to open. Cat replaced the 3208 fuelshut
style on later electronic engines with a high amp open ;low amp
remain-open fuel shutoff that requires two relays (Dodge Cummings had
it since 90). this can run on low low battery and works well with
the air start trucks (starter motors are powered like a pneumatic
wrench)
