Generator
I have a schematic of an 86FC/88 WB. This charging circuit is a
little complicated and our 88 is different than both of these
drawings. I replaced a good battery, before I understood this
circuit.
Our aux. battery solenoid in mid coach under the air step.
You can jumper across this solenoid to start the gennie or keep a
jumper hooked up to charge the gennie battery. Near this solenoid is
a big Bosh relay maybe 50/70 amps, check all the terminals, this area
is exposed to lots of road debris.
This is where the diode (big as your thumb)is located on our 88FC,

This Bosh relay is energized with the ignition "ON" for alternator
charging or when 110V AC is plugged in. So touch the relay box and
listen while someone turns the key to "ON". Then do the same and
have someone plug in the AC power cord. You can hear and feel this
relay activate. This indicates that the charging circuit is
energized.
You can also check the diode with a Volt Ohm meter.
When the Gennie battery is charging their is a slight voltage drop
across the diode ,so the gen volt meter may read less that the volt
meter on the dash.
There is also a fuse and some butt connectors in the left front
overhead, check here ( I hate butt connectors and push on tang
connectors) This is the 12 volt supply to the relay.

This is more than you asked for, It is also another overdesign from
BB. But I just spent several hours trying to understand this circuit
and I had some of the schematics, they were not much help.
This circuit may also be different on your 84, WE have the Onan
Generator.
