Possible tire for 450 LXi
Well--- tires are Pneumatic-- better to hiss then POW
a new subject section?

Here is an option to have a higher capacity tire/ and less pressure Gives a 10,000 lb load/more reserve BUT stated max is 65 mph. -- a safe trade off? Chinese quality? I would rather not put down a bigger footprint by using the 365 tire which taxes the 450 steering or widen the track effecting geometry (small but of interest in IFS)
Load range M tire

They also make a RR99 same 22 ply

Just found Continental -- 10,000 pound rating at 130 psi and 68 mph max speed SEE: http://www.conti-online.com/generator/ww...us_web.pdf

comments?

I saw a 24 ply 315/80R22.5 somewhere but can't find it now

Ross, I noticed that both tires require a 9" rim ! Will the 9" rim have enough clearance on a 450?

RE: Possible tire for 450 LXi
Hi,
The tires are still 315/80R22.5 -- Same physical size as original equipment tires which had L load range.
(the original rims were 9 inch ) These Chinese tires and the Continental have M load range , hence 10,000 lb. capacity vs the original 9090 lbs.
Some owners with 450's have found a new rim (10.5 inch) which allows a bigger tire, 365/70R22.5 . This rim, Alcoa 803601, causes a little wider track. The 450 steering is at full capacity so there is some concern. The increased offset should be considered also. It would be best to get Arvin Meritors blessing on the 365s.

RE: Possible tire for 450 LXi
hi, i know things are different, but i upgraded my 02 newell front tires and wheels to the 365/70r 22.5 with the new alcoa 10.5 inch wheels. it give a lot more weight capacity and allows you to have lower tire pressures. the newells with slides in the late 90s and early 2000's were right on the edge for front weight on the tires/wheels.

on the newells some would take them and some required modifications. fortunately, mine did not require any modifications at all. the michelin advantage price on the beefier 365's was lower than than the 315's i put on the rest of the coach. those wheels are pricey though....about 1100 bucks for the pair and hard to find. i was able to sell my old wheels which made it a little more affordable. the other thing is that newell then says that you can up the life of the front tires from 3 years to 5 years with them.

they are humongo tires i gotta say

RE: Possible tire for 450 LXi
Hi Tom,
There will be no difference within the 450s so they will fit. Presently the advantage program puts th 365s at $589.36 and the 315s at 586.18. The rims are hard to find. I got mine through Orrco at ~$450 each. These are not DB's I couldn't find any.
For interest , I am going to put Centramatics on the front too.

RE: Possible tire for 450 LXi
hi ross, yea, the wheels were hard to find. but my bus mechanic got them from his prevost supplier.

the excise tax for some reason is less on the 365's so the total is a little less.

i was under the front of my newell tonite and looked back at the 365 tires and they are WIDE. humongo tires.

my wheels were not durabrights either. but they shine up easily.
