Which Battery or Batteries start the Generator?
Howdy, Y'all.

We have a 15KW PowerTek generator in our 1993 Wanderlodge. Jack would
like to know which battery or batteries supply power to the genset in
the starting procedure. Is it the house batteries or the engine batteries?

Thanks,
Jack

Which Battery or Batteries start the Generator?
Jack & Liz......If you want to check on your coach which battery is
responsible for what system, just disconnect the ground on the engine
battery's and see if the generator will start. I've had my battery's in
and out numerous time's. I've redone the house tray's and also made new
hold down tie's for the engine start battery's. I have a full 8 battery
house bank and 3 battery engine start bank. Iam in the process now of
replacing my house battery's with new one's. What type battery are you
using for house deep cycle battery's I want to replace my 8 battery
bank. Thank's Bob 93pt. Illinois

choices to make, what type, lead acid or AGM, 6 volt or 12 volt, what
group size, how much do you want to spend, do you mind doing
maintenace? One thing is a for sure, if you never discharge your
battery's over 50%, they will cycle twice as many times. Good luck

Thanks for writing, Bob.

Jack prefers lead acid batteries. His portable x-ray units use lead acids
exclusively.

Do you use your inverter? If so, how long can you run on your inverter before
it is necessary to charge your coach's batteries?

Thanks,
Liz
