				Burnt alternator wire

The main ground cable to the back of my alternator looks like it's

gotten really hot at one point and burnt. I had a malfunctioning voltage regulator which may have done this, plus the connection was badly corroded. How should I replace this wire? It looks at least a 2 gauge. I would replace the whole length, but it goes all the way back to the batteries and it's about 12 ft long and a bear to pull out. Would it be safe to buy some heavy duty butt connectors and new eyelet and cut off and replace the foot's length of burnt wire? Steve 2 '98 QBRE Partybuses |
