Stuck Retarder switch
Just picked up my 91 WB from the Detroit Deisel Allison shop in
Orlando (pretty bad experience overall). Still have a Check
Transmission light on although they say ther are no active
transmission or engine codes (they checked with their handheld
device). Their story is that it's probably a short in the wiring that
is causing the light to come on. I'm suspect at best.

Spoke with Bennie at BB today and asked if stuck retarder switch
(stuck in the Apply position and the "On" light is not lit) might have
something to do with the check trans light. He plans to speak to a
transmission engineer on Monday and let me know.

I'd like any input that anyone might have on the subject and also like
to know where I can get the switch to replace the one that is stuck.
I live in the FL Keys so mail order or internet will be th best
sources for me.

It's customary on the forum to sign your post with name,
year and model and location. Thank you.
Order it from Bennie. He's the one busting his butt for you.

Bennie normally does know what BB has in stock since he gets many calls
everyday. There is another number for Parts and I agree most times they
have the part. I bought some oil impregnated wire loom from them when I
rewired some of the coach and they were actually cheaper then NAPA.

Well said George. Bluebird has almost any part that you need and
sometimes the price is not much more than anywhere else. In fact I have
bought parts that were cheaper than anywhere else. It's only a phone
call away and they know what you want and need. Plus the technical
advice we receive from them etc, etc. It's a good thing to Support them
when possible. I bought this retarder switch from them a few years ago
for my 93 and I believe it was only a couple dollars. If you need it
right away they'll overnight it. Bob 93pt Illinois (HOT)

Thanks,

I'll try to remember that.

Bennie didn't mention that they could supply the part. He told me
to try Radio Shack which I thought was odd

Tom:

I really think you could get a better answer about parts availability
by calling the Parts Department direct. Their number is 800-495-7787.

Bennie will not know what items are in stock. He would simply relay
your information to Parts.
