fuel shut off solenoid
Has anyone removed the fuel shut off solenoid to know what the
mechanical linkage looks like? I am interested in pulling it out and rotating it 180 degrees so that the two electrical connectors point to the rear instead of the front. This in preparation for installing a 320 amp alternator. dandarst86fc35rbhuntleyil. |

It's not scary, it will rotate with out removing.

fuel shut off solenoid
I have an intermittent problem with my fuel shut off solenoid. Engin
wont start, right now I'm reading 6.5 volts at terminal. Does anyone know where this wire is fed from. Thinking about running a new wire from starter solenoid but would rather fix original wire. Don't see this on my drawings. 84 FC 31' Thanks |

Morgooder, I dont know where the wire is fed from. But some where
there is a write up on a wiring upgrade where you install a relay and use the LOW voltage hot wire to the sol. to activate the new relay and then run a new GOOD hot wire threw the relay on to the fuel shut off sol.to keep 12v to the sol. at all times. Worked for me. Maybe its in the files sec. not sure. Hope this helps. This is common problem on the FC's. I solved it by installing a 70amp Bosch
relay in the engine space near the fuel solenoid. I used the existing wire off of the the fuel solenoid and got 12vdc from the back of the alternator. It is important to use a heavy duty fuse on the alternator wire. I can't remember the size but try 30 amp to start. The original wire comes from a circuit breaker on the left front behind the access door on the outside. Changing this circuit breaker this won't necessarily solve the problem but you could try. I didn't, I just installed the new relay as described above. Good luck. Please sign your name and location on your posts.
