Now what new motor home manufacturers are left? Winnebago and I bet
there just holding out by there teeth. We are dying breed I hate to say it but it true. When the price of fuel goes back up than more motor homes will be come fixtures in our front yards or down at the local stowage lot. A friend of mine told me that down in Southern California at one of the naval bases they rent out spaces to store our dreams at a cost of $100 to 125 dollars a month. Now I know where the money is in RVing. Oh yes I think he said that they had about 2500 spaces. |

No. The school busses are manufactured across the street. When Cerberus sold the Blue Bird Corporation, they split it into two companies -- the school busses and the WL. They were operated as separate divisions, anyway, but with some cross over. School bus kept the original BB logo -- that's why a new logo had to be devised for the WL side. There were other aspects to the separation, but they're not particularly important now.

Ernie,
I am ready to help out anyway I can. As you mention I live an hour and a half away and have vacation time. If any sort of deal is worked for records and schematics, parts or whatever I am willing to help. Its a sad time for all..... Hi Folks,
How are you? I also support the purchase of any schematics, wiring diagrams, plans or other legacy information for our birds. I think these should be scanned into PDF and posted for our members. Perhaps we can get together with Vintage Birds and make a purchase. Does anyone have any ideas on how we can do this? Contact the bank? Work through the folks at Wanderlodge? In addition to Wandering, I am also an avid boater. When Hatteras Boats of NC sold their business to Brunswick, there was a family in Highpoint, NC that bought the spare parts warehouse. They now run a dream of a family business called Sam's Marine. I think the spare parts represents a fine business opportunity for a member of our community. I hope they take advantage of it. I look forward to buying the parts from them instead of a company like Brunswick. Maybe I can finally find a vintage Blue Bird Clock. [still looking!] My prayers go out to the employees of Wanderlodge. I hope they are picked up quickly by the Blue Bird Bus Company. Nate Owens 1983 35FC "It's a Wanderful Life" |

Hi Folks,
Here is just one more thought regarding Wanderlodge closing.. Our forum is made of very practical and intelligent people. As a community we may not be too far above the average income spectrum but we rinse, reuse and remake items that the average bear would otherwise repurchase. We cherish and uphold the quality of our possessions. We take pride in ownership and it is reflected clearly in our forum and our birds. If we remove the blur of economic problems our Country is having right now, the picture of Wanderlodge as a brand becomes a little different. Perhaps ultimately, the future of Wanderlodge was hindered by the success of Wanderlodgeââ¬â¢s past. The company has [with few exceptions] a 56 year history of high quality coaches that last or are perceived to last a lifetime. Regardless of our economic or socioeconomic standing, history like this makes it hard for most practical people to justify the purchase of a new bird of the same lasting quality. Does anyone have any thoughts? Nate Owens 1983 35FC "It's a Wanderful Life" http://picasaweb.google.com/owensnate/NateSWanderlodge |

I dont think they failed. business purchase plans have a bailout plan
prompted by math results. marriages have the same they call them Prenumptuals however the prompts are mostly social. I'm surprised they closed, thought the building/land purchase was to service epa compliancy market and WL was just a perk. The free TV give away to retro owners was the first sign of marketing in unknown territory. Give a set of golf clubs to a fleet manager and FM buys 15 engine repowers for the Company or transit agency he works for.. Give a TV to Vintage bus owner and they ask for an extra remote. Ahh, allow me to translate: 1) They didn't fail, the bankers just pulled the rug out from under 'em, 2) Macy was truly trying to build a motorhome, and 3) vintage bus owner's are a PITA and will never buy one of your new products! David Brady '02 LXi, NC Ernie Ekberg wrote:
