Aqua hot instrument panel switch
Be aware that there is an "Aqua Hot Users" forum within Yahoo Groups.
Just like this forum, it seems to be pretty active. Not having the
diesel portion of the Aqua Hot available during freezing weather is
ugly. I hope you get it fixed quickly.

One additional comment: The Aqua Hot/Vehicle Systems Inc. manuals are
among the best I have encountered for my ride. If you don't have one
run a Google search for Aqua Hot Manual. There are about three
different manuals if I recall correctly.

Just after I bought my bird I had a large dealer in OR repair my Aqua
Hot. In a few words: It was a disaster. I learned from that one
experience that I have got to learn the ropes on keeping this bird
flying. I quickly learned that that silver box is just full of nuts,
bolts and a few wires. With the aid of manuals I would be happy to
tackle almost anything in this box.

Good luck,

Not all Blue Birds are fortunate enough to use Aqua Hot products.
Some are Blue Bird built systems.

Ernie, I called the Aqua Hot factory this past Monday and talked with
Tech Support. The guy I talked with said they were up and operating
and were accepting parts orders. I didn't press for more info.

Thanks Royal, probably an ongoing investigation.

Searching the Internet -- there doesn't seem to be any news beyond the initial reports, so far. Try searching Google on "Enander murder Colorado" ...

Pete,

There was a time prior to Oct last year that I would have said the
same thing.

When my AH got intermittent, like Hish, and then failed to satrt on
diesel at all, I went through the normal (by the manual) and even
abnormal trouble shooting. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable on
the AH. Thanks to Johnny at Bleakley in Unidilla, he fixed it in a
relatively quick fashion. Turns out it *WAS* the dash switch. All
measurements across it were good, it only failed after the purge cycle
when switched on. The purge cycle doesn't draw as much current as the
burner cycle so when the purge timed out and the controller called for
ignition, the switch went high resistive and not enough voltage at
igniter and faulting out.

Replaced the $3.98 switch and all is and has been well.

Wow! ... one of those subtle things. I did have my dash switch go bad ... and the symptom was that the AquaHot (and the little green light) simply didn't come on. Before the switch completely failed, I had the green light goes out thing, too. I didn't realize that there was a low-amperage draw that was affected by resistance in the switch. The technician did a complete annual service on the A-H at the time he found and replaced the dash switch, so I assumed that the service had "solved" the quitting behavior -- it never occurred to me that it was (probably) the dash switch going bad....
One of the continuing headaches with the WL (and I suppose nearly every RV) is the very long runs of 12 vdc wires. Resistance and voltage drop becomes a significant factor. When I had my pilot's license, the small aircraft I rented almost always had 24 vdc wiring (unless they were very old) -- While 24 volt circuits cause some headaches with finding bulbs, etc. it's almost too bad that RVs didn't standardize at 24 so that some of these problems would be less... Indeed, most busses use 24 vdc instead of 12 vdc...
