OK, Birders, I apologize in advance, but do any of you know anything
awful about BARTH diesel pushers that I should be wary of. They look a tiny BIT like FC's. The one I am interested in is a 1994 30 footer on a Spartan chassis with a Cummins B engine. I'd LOVE a 31 foot Wanderlodge FC or something a lot like it. Short length, no slideouts, bus quality chassis and drivetrain, a pretty exterior that doesn't shout "Winnebago" or "Fleetwood", a practical, restrained interior that doesn't look like Liberace's boudoir. The looks of an FC are just about perfect to my taste. John Alldredge Full timing since Feb 2005 in a 22' bumper tow Fleetwood LW. |

My experience is very limited, but I have found that the Barth is a very well built coach and capable of giving good service for any owner who will be willing to take proper care of it.
I would refuse to compare them to the Wanderlodge only because my knowledge is limited.

Barth was not a "REAL" bus manufacturer like BB but Barth (now defunct?) used to make bookmobiles, lighter duty passenger haulers, EMT HQ vehicles, fire department emergency rescue units and like that. As far as I know, they always used somebody else's chassis for their bodies (like most regular RV manufacturers do, of course). Barth would build you whatever you wanted but their motorhomes were "stock" units for the most part, so far as I can tell. They LOOK like quality, anyhow |

Thanks, Gregory.
Yeah, I'm tending to agree with you. The thing that's holding me back at the moment is lack of real travelling opportunities. In general, we stay in one place all summer and then tow down to Texas and stay in one place all winter. That's a waste if we were to have a bus. This situation might change in the next few years, however. You're right about me being a bus wannabe but the Barth IS tempting. The one I saw is on eBay and is the only Barth MH listed there at present. The last time I checked, it had attracted no bids. John Alldredge, towing a Terry Dakota 22' bumper tow TT & settled down in northern BC until the end of Aug. Great weather up here, sunny & dry, highs in the seventies, no bugs (there's drought & mosquito breeding has been interrupted) --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Gregory OConnor" > > Is it in Ventura? > > http://ventura.craigslist.org/rvs/737053415.html > > > I found additional info on it > > http://ventura.backpage.com/AutosForSale...classic_co > ach_wide_body_33_foot/classifieds/ViewAd?oid=1717562 > > 25 grand buys a nice rig but you are still a wantabe coach owner. > > Anything less than a Wanderlodge is "total Barth" > > buy a bus > > GregoryO'Connor > 94ptRomolandCa > > > --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "wilfreddrabble" > > > > OK, Birders, I apologize in advance, but do any of you know > anything > > awful about BARTH diesel pushers that I should be wary of. Sorry but 35' is just TOO LONG. 32' is stretching it for us. There
are just too many times that we want to stay in confined spaces. At the moment we are camped out in a friend's driveway and there would be no way to manage this with a 35 footer. This is about the fifth time this summer we have been in a "short site" situation. In any case, we are sticking with our current rig for two more summers anyhow unless it gets smashed in a tornado or hurricane. There WAS a hurricane just blew through the place where we winter in Texas. Damage was pretty minor but ya never know!
