Engine battery ground cable

Engine battery ground cable
Does anyone have a good source for an engine ground cable for a 1997
WLWB 43'. My cable broke at the clamp post. CCW parts group said that a
new one will be available in 3-4 weeks, cann't wait that long.

Unless I am missing something, that sounds to me like a cable you
remove and take with you to any good truck parts place and say "Match
this for me please". Even a NAPA store ought to be able to handle that.

Engine battery ground cable
Hisham, I agree with Mike. If it is a battery cable??? You may want
to find a shop that solders the ends if you are in a wet climate.
Many Welding supply outlets and Battery/solar specialty shops make
up battery cables. Our Napa does a poor job with the press on ends.
When I use press on ends, I fill the space up with regular solder.

Look for the reason it failed. if it is too taught, check the
motormounts tranny mounts etc......

If it is a ground strap from frame to engine, you can use insulated
cable. Best place would be a welder repair shop for no post cables .
I never understood why many OEM's use bare braded cable for the
ground?????

Thank you for the feed back, I visited our battery shoptheir idea is to selling parts that are in their inventory. they do not make up new cables. I would like to replace the cable with like kind and quality.I guess I will keep looking in the Detroit area for a shop that can make a quality cable.

Engine battery ground cable
Because it's cheaper. Ground straps don't need to be insulated, since they (and every other bit of bare metal) is a ground. The positive cables must be insulated so that they don't 'short' against a ground. Ground cables on batteries are usually (but not always) insulated since they pass close to the positive wires from the battery, and that avoids a chance of an inadvertent short.
Of course, if you use an insulated cable for a ground strap, it doesn't make any difference.

Engine battery ground cable
When my engine battery cable failed I could not find a source that had
the right supplies. I found that the "Batteries Plus" store in area
had a triple Group 31 battery ground cable set for truck batteries.
Basically it connected the ground terminals of three batteries
together. The central battery terminal had a male post molded in. I
attached one of the good terminals to the single male post mentioned
above. (I cut the broken terminal off and taped the exposed lead up
and cut the third terminal off altogether.) It was a easy solution
and cost about $15.
