Does the Astro Pure Water Purifier Need Servicing?
Fellow Wanderlodgers,
I spent the day replacing two copper water lines in my 83' FC-35 side bath. Last fall, I followed all the winterizing instructions in the owners manual, but apparently didn't get all the water out. Next winter, I'm going to drain my system and then run through gallons of rv antifreeze and pump that everywhere. Of course, the copper line burst behind my ice maker, and was very difficult to access. But after removing the ice maker, I happened upon my Astro Pure water filtration system. First time that I have ever seen it! I checked the Bluebird owners manual, and it said the Astro Pure system never requires maintenance. I work closely with the potable water industry, and have never heard of a filter that never requires maintenance. Anybody have an idea of what to do with it? Should I re-install it, or while it is out, have it serviced? Thanks so much - any advice is appreciated. Andy Coleman 83' FC-35 Spring Lake Hts, NJ |

If the line dead ended at the icemaker, even antifreeze would not
move inplace of the freezable tap water??????? Hi Greg -
The copper line that burst on me (in 2 places) was going from the water pump to the bathroom along the wall. It just happened to burst behind the ice maker. But you have a good point - if my ice maker actually worked, how would you winterize that?
