Wireless rear cameras?
A prior owner of Blue Thunder replaced the camera inside. The window was not
replaced (why would you want to?). A block of wood was used to make the much tinier new camera sit correctly where the old one had been. Wireless rear cameras?
Ryan,
I recently experimented with this and removed the original RCA and replaced it with a color IR camera. I knew going in that the IR LEDs would be a problem because they reflect off the camera window. Therefore, the system does not work in the dark as it was designed to. However, It does a pretty good job during the day for an inexpensive system. This installation required fishing a new proprietary cable from the control unit at the front of the coach along the drivers side. I am new to this whole coach thing. I think my night driving will be minimal so I will live with this limitation for now. I am still searching for a method to keep the camera behind the glass and gain the night vision function... this may not be possible. Ryan
My 79 33' didn't have a factory camera installed so it didn't have the window or the recessed place to install one. If you mount a camera with night vision inside it will not work as good if mounted on the outside. That is what I have been told. I replaced my inside camera with this see in the dark camera. http://www.owlseyecamera.com. I used existing cables and changed a couple of connectors. I removed my old monster TV set monitor(still have it, don't know if it works) and used two 3.5" LCD's and added a right side camera from Birtles and all is well. See Photo's in the section. I got the LCD's at http://www.lcdshow.com. I have about $650 in a system that works great even at night.

Thank you for the replies on this, everyone. I'm going to check out
that Owls Eye Camera, sounds nice. Did you just email or call them to buy it? I don't see an order form on their web site. -Ryan On Sun, May 18, 2008 at 6:32 PM, Leroy Eckert > > I replaced my inside camera with this see in the dark camera. > http://www.owlseyecamera.com. Wireless rear cameras?
I just put in a new camera, used one that I got on
Ebay that just fit in the opening in the bezel. A few small angle bracket to hold it in and it looks pretty good. No problems with reflections cause its mounted to the outside... One thing, on my '87 PT the 'window' was plastic and so worn and frosted you couldnt see through it! Replaced the CRT monitor with a LCD (also from Ebay) and now have color for the rear view :} Ive got photos if anyone is interested... /Joe '87 PT40 San Francisco Scott Forman wrote: > > > Ryan, > > Been there, done that.
