Roadside assistance
I use National Interstate on my bus. I now pay $50.00 per year for ERS,
administered through the policy by Continental Car Club whoever they are. It
covers the bus and my other vehicles. The wife has ERS through Alltel on her
vehicle. As far as I can determine, there are no maintenance exclusions and are
towed to the nearest qualified service center. Until this post was started by
Howard I paid $7.00 per year, I had to pay the bill and get reimbursed. I
relied on my maintenance. That has been 3 years. I hope I never have to use
it.

Just for info, during my lifetime, unless a vehicle was financed, I only carried
liability coverage. I have saved thousands, but it only takes once I guess.
It's self insurance to some degree.

For 35 years, I never carried in-flight insurance on the airplane for
obvious reasons. How does that compute?

Been quietly tell'n ya'll I'm out there on some things. LOL

Howard. I haven't decided yet, so add one undecided lol. I plan on joining
FMCA, but I haven't gotton that far yet. I'm insured for the purchace price of
the bus, I did that to get it home, but I plan on adding more before I leave.
When I asked to speak to the Motorhome expert at my insurance co, the gal I was
talking to claimed she was the one. I told her I wanted awning insurance, incase
the wind blew them away, when parked, and she asked " Oh, this will be parked"?
Then she told me " Auto insurance don't cover that. That's covered under your
home owners policy". Maybe I'll have better luck talking to FMCA.

Coach Net here also. Was through Monaco, and when we switched over to the Bird,
they moved us to FMCA.

we have progressive ins. they paid $800.00 to get me home. first
they pull me off of 465 in Inpls to there yard since it was the week
end than I called monday and they said I should go to cloverdale
which cost $250 and then found out they could not do the work so I
call again and told them I had a engine guy back home. so the had me
towed home for $600.00 and they paid both towing. very well please.

Being suspicious of the coach-net wording in my members brochure I
decided to contact coach-net and ask for an explanation. This is
what I received today.

Dear Mr. Warner,
I spoke with the head of our Technical Department, and he reiterated the
fact that there are few incidences that are deemed maintenance issues.
Those listed in the benefit guide are the most common: As follows:

1. The use of alternative diesel fuels cause problems, because the
engine was not designed for the alternative fuels.

2. Accidentally putting gas in a diesel engine.

3. Improper draining of the fuel separator. Which should be done by a
professional.

4. Failure to maintain the battery: the life of the battery can vary
depending on conditions, but there is an average lifespan of an RV
Battery, and it should be replaced within a certain period of time
before problems arise.

5. Failure to maintain the battery during storage. There are procedures
to follow to maintain the battery during storage.

6. Prolonged periods of non-use. can cause wiring an fuel filter issues,
as well as dry rotting of tires.


Our RVDA and ASE certified RV technicians are trained to make the
decision from the members input, but in any case, Coach-Net shall assist
you in finding assistance for your vehicle.
