Things I need to find out...
Larry, since you told me the owner of the coach had passed away, I assume
that the coach has been sitting a while not in use. This can be the worst thing to happen to a bird. Your gas alarm probably needs to be taken apart and cleaned out. Your sporlan valve probably has some sediment in it. Or- on my coach, the water fill switch was shot- hard to detect. Once I replaced that- everything works. Things I need to find out...
Larry You might want to check the weight on those 145's. I'm using them &
I think they are about 75 # apiece. Four is a lot of weight to carry. I have used the 105's before in my 79 FC & had good luck with them too. I think when I have to replace them in my 89 SP I will get the 105's again for the weight factor. Just something to think about . Don 89 SP 36' Butler, PA Kerry, I am thinking of going to the Trojan T145 batteries to replace the ones that I need to replace... They are only 5/8" higher than the T105's that are there now... I think I will have enough clearance... They are a lot more amp hours... Sea Ya Larry Croton Point Park, NY 84 35FCSB [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Things I need to find out...
Hi All,
Well, I have been trying to get to know the BB a little more than I have seen so far... I have to ask all of the group for some HELP... 1. I have found 4- 6 volt batteries, I am of the understanding that there may be more, but where are they??? The reason being is when I go to start the Cat, the batt goes dead, until I use the aux batt switch, then starts right up... This all while being plugged into 30 amp electric... The coach has two Iota DLS 45 chargers with IQ smart chargers... they were install 06/04/04 2. After filling the propane tank, the alarm under the frig started going off, Why??? It was on all along with green light on... 3. Every time I open the closet next to the frig, the digitell goes off and starts with announcing the time, which is incorrect, also the radio stops working for a few seconds, then comes on again when I close the the closet door... What is this??? 4. I think I have figured out the next problem, it is the water fill, it worked fine the first fill up of water, then the second time I tried to fill up I flipped the tank fill switch it filled up and then overflowed, I shut the switch off and the water kept overflowing from the over flow, I assumed this has to do with the sporlan valve, is this true??? Enough for now, I am sure I have to pose more to you until I get all this down pat... Things I need to find out...
Larry,
The aux battery switch places the generator battery in paralell with the 4 start/chassis batteries. So you should find a 12 volt battery in the generator compartment that is saving your a$%. You need to check the water level in the batteries and probably take them to a garage to check their age and output. A check of the charging system would be a good idea as well. I just re-wired my aux switch which wasn't working. Lucky for me my start batteries were OK. Things I need to find out...
Ernie, Yes, he passed away in 2005, I think in June or July... His
brother-in-law was running the coach and keeping it charged up, according to the owners wife... But, yes, it was being unused for that time... Thanks for the welcome... Things I need to find out...
Hi Gardner,
Thanks for the post... The first night that I had the BB out, I stayed at Wally World, all night...When I went to start the Cat, the batts were weak and would not start, I then tried the Genny and that batt was weak and would not start the Gen... I then hit the aux switch and the Gen started... I think there was enough in the start batts to get the gen started, lucky me, or I would have to call my newly acquired towing insurance... The water level is and was full... What I did not know was that the aux switch tied the gen batt into the mix... I was thinking the four 6 volts were the house batts and there was another batt for the starter... I guess I will change out all the batteries... Things I need to find out...
Larry,
Ok, I see now. I have a similar problem in that my Gen battery is not really totally isolated and therefor discharges when not disconnected from the system. My normal storage plan is to disconnect all the batteries. I don't think I could survive an overnight without the generator, but I haven't tried yet. I know some folks have added seperate batteries for chassis power to maintain starting energy when boondocking, not a bad idea, but takes space and costs for the extra batteries and charging requirememts. Gardner 78FC33 7 batteries and loving it. --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, Larry wrote: > > Hi Gardner, > Thanks for the post...
