Air Leak help
Last week asked about reverse feed to pressure coach from external
air. Worked and I found my air leak. See photo at Steve & Pat's 93 PT-40 photo is labeled "Leaking Air FTG" or http://autos.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/W...s/view/321 c?b=2 The valve is label #5 but I cannot find anything on the schematics that corresponds to that, any idea what this controls? Should I replace the entire line or just splice in a new fitting? Complete replacement looks like job from HE@@. Any help appreciated Steve & Pat Quandt 93 PT-40 Iron Mountain, MI |

That is your suspension dump valve. Press on the grey ring, toward the valve body and pull the black air line out. Clip the end of the air line about 1/4 inch and re insert it fully into the fitting. If that does not take care of it, then to the right of that valve will be 3 other fittings with air lines going to it. Undo the last fitting and put it on the valve then put the one off the valve back in the one you removed. Then find a Parker Hanifin parts house and order some new fittings. Those fittings are like the old Chinese finger holder toys, same idea. Steve,
I'll assume the leak is at the black plastic where it goes into the white thingy. Try this...push the white thingy in and at the same time pull out the black plastic line. Cut off a short piece of the black line, 1/2". Push the line back in where it came from. If that does not work, buy the brass/white thingy coupler and replace the bad one. Simple job. My guess is it controls one of the following...driving lights...left front vent...right front vent...suspension up/down...tag up/down. On ours there are five of those Clippard air switches. I haven't figured out the 5th one yet. Might have something to do with the step, not sure. The Clippard switches are the little yellow things attached to the air manifolds. I see you have at least 4 of them from what I see in your photo. That time frame is sort of a crap shoot figure. Ideally, the air should stay up for several days. Your front and rear gauges only tell you about the air break tanks and not the "wet" tank. The air comes from the compressor to the air drier. From there it travels to the wet tank and the wet tank feeds the front and rear air break tanks. There is a one way in line valve to prevent the air flowing back to the wet tank from both of those air break tanks. Everything else, suspension, air step, step well cover, seat slid, air ride seats and so forth work from the wet tank. There is no gauge for the wet tank.
