Towing
Yes, it looks like a bumper hitch because there is a added brace that attaches
the bumper to the platform extension that the ball is attached to. However,
that platform extension is securely welded to a steel channel cross piece that
runs from frame rail to frame rail, as I recall. It is quite stoutly
constructed. When I converted to a receiver style hitch I merely removed the
ball and had the receiver welded to the existing platform and then had the cross
brace further bridge braced underneath for even more rigidity. You had to keep
the camera on to know something was back there!

pics I have do make it look more like a "bumper hitch", than the true
receiver/tubular style hitch. I'll know better in a few weeks when I can get up
close and personal with it.

documentation, although I've been told its "tweaked" and puts out more than
300hp, something I will never verify or care to have verified!

think the actual platform hitch assembly was the same on both as I recall. Could
be that the load rating difference you are reporting be related to the fact that
the 82PT had the 6V92 "Red" engine rated at 300HP and the 83 PT had the 6V92
"Silver: at 330HP (and more torque).

just wondering because the owners manual/documents for m 82 list the towing
rated at 7500 lbs, not 10,000 lbs. I realize they could have upgraded it from
one year to the next, but that would surprise me a little considering 83 was
only the second year of the pushers.

down.

to be towed by 2004 Winnebago Journey 32' diesel pusher, a task Winnebago sales

too heavy, steering too stiff, result an unsafe combination. Are any 3-axel 40'
Bluebird diesel pushers safely capable of such a task?

Towing
Although I have a smaller coach, a 31FC, I always tell them that it is a big
heavy vehicle. It weighs some 23,000 pounds, and the front axel is five feet
behind the front bumper.. "Bring your BIG truck"......
Then when they arrive, they say, "Gee, I should of brought the big rig" !
I guess that when I say it is a RV,they probably think of a FleetWood.
(I am insured with Foremost, and am happy with them..)
