Replacement Generator
I run my generator as much as possible. Have run it NON-Stop for 4
days (96 hours). I usually like to change the oil every 50 hours, but in an event that causes the Perkins to run straight thru an extended period, I'll wait til I'm ready to shut it off. It is my understanding that this Perkins engine has been used in many a sail boat around the world. They have seen 12K-20K of run time. Albeit its not started to bre a cup of coffee, more like doldrums and then lit for days or even weeks sometimes... So far, I'm happy with my boat anchor. Werks Grate! Me too, Randy. Do you think 336 hours on that oil change was a
stretch? I think the start-up warm-up, cool off, start-up warm-up, cool off, start-up warm-up, cool off, start-up warm-up, cool off, start-up warm-up, cool off, start-up warm-up, cool off has GOT to be the reason for oil changes. You know, fire it up-make coffee-shut it off. Thats what is hard on things. You using a Perkins/Kohler? Get an inverter charger and a batt bank, quit screwin' around. I got 8 golf
cart batts in the truck, a 3k Trace, solar panels a 7.5 quiet diesel, the Leece-Neville charges every thing goin' down the road and I don't fire the genset unless we are at a race or something where the trailer lights and battery chargers and all that are needed. When we dry camp, I might have to run the gen set a couple hours a day to keep the bank up if I watch too much tube or run the Sharp micro/convection too much. The bus has a 2500 Heart with 4 AGMs and it takes care of the breakfast-lunch duties with out cranking up the genset. The panels are in the immediate future for the bus. It's like, get with it man. Replacement Generator
That's inspiring, I felt guilt because the truck genset has 200+ hrs since oil
change. I might stretch it as I don't like the Genewreck that much anyhow. On the other hand a friend of mine lost a rod bearing on his 7.5 Onan at 6000 hrs and I doubt he changed the oil on time. Do you think 336 hours on that oil change was a stretch? I think the start-up warm-up, cool off, start-up warm-up, cool off, start-up warm-up, cool off, start-up warm-up, cool off, start-up warm-up, cool off, start-up warm-up, cool off has GOT to be the reason for oil changes. You know, fire it up-make coffee-shut it off. Thats what is hard on things. You using a Perkins/Kohler?
