1984 pt 40 Generator Noise

Has anyone used a more modern sound insulation board to quiet down the
generator? how did it work? What product did you use?

I also remember - several years ago someone had a project that used a
small 12 v fan in lieu of the 220v fan until the gen got too hot.
this was done to quiet down the fan noise

Anyone remember anything about this?
