Nutone food center

The control switch on my Nutone has been broken since I purchased the
coach. What is broken is the white plastic tip that the dial fits into.
I can still operate it with a pair of pliers but that is so classless.
My questions is how do you get the unit out. It looks like it's locked
in with a couple of wedges that come out of the side of the Nutone.
Before I get too rough maybe somebody has done it.
