87 FC 35 Generator??????
Then maybe a test of the linkage causing the amp draw would be to disconnect the
linkage then check to see if operating the solenoid will draw the 40 amps it does now. then, operate the genset with the shut of linkage opened manualy, ;selonoid removed from setting but connected to + and- ;; wait to see if the solenoid will lose its signal disconnected running then repeat manualy open the shutoff linkage , remove the solenoid completly, put a test light on the input to the solenoid, run the gen set and wait for the signal to disapear. these test should prove issue. Novice mechanics replace clutches that were only out of adjustment and assumed that the replacement of the clutch was the fix. 40 amp might be the result of a bad solenoid , a hard chore, weak connection etc Greg --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "richardgideon" > > I recently replaced the fuel shutoff solenoid on my Onan DKD. The instruction sheet with the new solenoid assembly indicated that when the governor linkage on the Onan (Kubota Diesel) is wide open against the stop, the electric solenoid linkage should be adjusted so that the solenoid is "pulled in" all the way. Linkage adjustment appears to be critical and could result in chattering or maybe over heating the solenoid. > > Dick Gideon > 1989 FC35 > 8.0 DKD Onan > Rolla, MO > > --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "gregory O" > > > > maybe the linkage on the fuel solenoid is not letting the electromagnetic stroke of the solenoid go to full open????? there is more force, thus more amp draw required to open the selonoid then hold it open. Recently some rich friends had an overheating selonoid problem on their new 97EcknfloorPT. Lucas, The SouthWest guru of Gensets diagnosed the issue and it made perfect sence. > > Greg of Tim&Greg > > 94ptca > > > > > > --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "sc310c" <sc310c@> wrote: > > > > > > STILL WORKING ON GEN GOT SERVICE MANUAL CAN MANUALLY WORK FUEL SOLENOD WHEN UNHOOKED AND ENGINE RUNS DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MANY AMPS IT PULLS > > > TKS BOB IN KY STILL HUNTING > > > > > > |
