Attention Vertical Generator Radiator Owners!
You have GOT to do this upgrade!
I just finished installing a 12v Hayden fan to replace the original 220v set up. What a difference! Not only is the 12v fan something like 80% quieter, but the original fan was the source of most of the vibration inside the coach when the gen was running. This is a HUGE upgrade for the livability of the coach. Removing the old fan isn't tough...the entire radiator/fan assembly comes out in one piece on the PT (I think it does on the FC as well???). This was also a good excuse to re-core the radiator. I used a 17" Hayden fan I got on eBay and wired it with a Bosch relay, it seems to put out at least as much air as the original unit (rated at 2200cfm). I cannot say enough good things about the outcome in my PT. As a former FC owner, I can tell you that making this switch on an FC would work wonders for the amount of "porch" noise with the gen running. I can now carry on a conversation at normal volume while standing next to the fan. Special thanks to Shane F. for educating me on this upgrade. If anyone would like more details on how I did all this, let me know. Scott Forman 86 PT38 Memphis |
