It's a 6 point box-end wrench that's been cut enough to slip the tubing through so you can get a good grip on the flare nut, usually brass and soft. The tubing wrench is made a lot heavier on the end to keep it from opening up under a lot of stress. I've used the craftsman brand in the past and found them to fit too loosely to be any good. The Snap-On brand is a tight fit and works well.
