Securing window awning

I guess I have a broken spring on one of my small window awnings, as I
suddenly glanced in the mirror yesterday and found it open going down
the highway. Is there a way to secure the awning tube to keep it from
unrolling until I can get the spring replaced? Right now I have it
lashed up to the goat rail with bungies, but I'd like something a
little more "professional". Suggestions?
