Engine compartment gas lifts

Bob,

I replaced my gas struts on the engine compartment door and it
required 190# springs. The Stabilus part # is 2988EG. They have metal
ends and you should definitely get the safety clips for the new ones.
Orr and Orr has them or you can visit this website-
[http://www.clancey.com/documents/literature/da1a.pdf] they are on the
last page of the pdf document. The ones on my '85 have a stroke of
10.2" and an overall length of 26.3". I also replaced the ball studs
to be on the safe side. I had to support the door with a 2x4 in the
middle while I removed the old ones. You should be able to reuse the
metal saftey brace that came with the original pair.
