Well, that is a good question. My wife and I, along with 20 or so
good friends, have been going to the 500 for 10 years. We did stay
in the infield once. It was exprnsive and had some undesirable
limits on it at that time. If a person wanted to visit you they had
to have a ticket for that area--which were, at that time, $275 or
so. Consequently we could not have our friends over so it was a
little lonesome. That visitor limit was not made clear when we
signed up for the tickets. Aparently they had it that way to keep
out the "rif-raf".
We have been very satisfied staying across the street, behind Hooters
restaurant at Finishline Campground, buying good tickets, and walking
to and from the track. It is not a "rowdy" campground. You would
like it there. Look for us if you decide to stay there.
