88 FC swing rad NOT???
I had no clue untill after I got mine home, found a fan, shroud and an old
electric chutch, and The shaft missing, up in the rear storage pod, that mine had been converted to electric fans. There are 4, housed in 2 small shrouds. It looks like there's plenty of room to change my belts. Maybe that's an answer to all this trama with swing radiators.(maybe quieter too) I'll let you know in a few days when I remove my belts to check out the bearings in all that spins up there.I'll see if I can find the manufactures name. Jimmy Harvie birdshill123 and others: Than you for the replies. The 87 to 89 FC's are a different breed. The swing rad opens just enough to change belts and rip your hands to shreds. My problem is it wont open enough. I got it open 6 inches. Now I am thinking maybe it is the top rad hose that is holding it closed. Tomorrow a.m. I am going to remove the air to air cooler tube and hose on the LH side. Then MAYBE I can undo the top rad hose. If not I will cut that baby ( silicone hose!!) From what little I can see it appears to be about a 8 inch hose with a metal elbow and then more hose. That would not allow much movement. Anyone who would tackle a roadside repair involving swinging the rad is crazy. I undertsand the 86 and older units are much easier. Bruce 1988FC35 --------------------------------- Bored stiff?
