Just listed my bus on vintage birds
Dan & Mike,
Pulling up to and through the Eisenhower Tunnel, may be a difficult pull, but getting off before the tunnel at exit #205 onto US6, at Dillon coming eastbound, or when coming westbound getting off at exit #216 onto US6, this will take you up over the top of Loveland Pass and it will definitely separate the men from the boys for sure. The last time I went this way, I was escorting a 325,000 pound truck hauling a rotor for a electrical generator in a power plant in Utah. It seemed like it took us forever to get up and over the top, but the big Peterbuilt with Cummins power did the job. I wouldn't even try doing this in my 'Bird. We had to go this way as the CDOT considered this load as hazardous and would not allow us to go through the tunnel. On some of the grades coming west from Denver, we were down to speeds as low as 12 mph, we had to warn the freight haulers that normally are the slowest on these grades that we would be going slower than they were. See a similar rear view, but lighter 250,000 pound load third row down on right next to the yacht at; http://hometown.aol.com/iamflagman/page1.html or http://hometown.aol.com/iamflagman/images/milwaukee.jpg "REMEMBER SEPTEMBER 11, 2001" John Finn '82 35FCRB BLUEBIRD WANDERLODGE TO VISIT THE "FINN'S INN EXPRESS" REMODELING ADVENTURE GO TO; http://www.pbase.com/image/24977457 HOPKINS, SOUTH CAROLINA //////////////////////////////////////////////////// --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "dandarst" wrote: > > Yeow Mike, didn't like that the rig had to work so hard for that > long, but it didn't miss a beat.
