Tank Fittings

Does anyone know how the drain fittings for the dump valves are connected to
the tanks? I have a seeping leak on my black water tank. I have removed
the drain line and the valves and the pipe is loose where it enters the
tank. There is some hard epoxy like stuff around the area and I can't tell
if it is original or where a previous owner tried to fix a leak. Any
knowledge would be appreciated.
