trigger wire

just removed and and had my alternator reworked. while reinstalling it
after the rebuild i was connecting the ground and hot wire to the
alternator when i saw a trigger wire that ran to the "body hot" bus bar
just above the batteries. this is a sensing wire and i dont know if it
is to be used with a leece-neville internal regulator alternator. can
someone help me with this question. i have read all the old post that i
could find and didnt get a good answer. thanks for your help
