junk in propane tank
I installed the valve for an autot-shutoff propane detector today.
While removing the fitting on the regulator (which faces straight up) a piece of dried pipe dope dropped into the hole. I decided to open the valve and let the preasure blow it out. It came out, but along with it a bunch of greenish liquid spit out on things (not propane as it remained liquid). This can't be a good thing for the regulator or anything else in the system. What I am worried about is since the output is never supposed to allow liquid propane through, how did the other junk get into the line. Is it possibly just condensation collecting at the bottom of the tube over the 28 years the tank has been in service? If I go to a propane dealer can they flush out the tank and re- certify it, or can I expect them to just look at the age and condem it. I don't want to live dangerously so I guess I need to bite the bullit and go to a pro, but if someone has some experience with this situation please let me know the solution. Gardner 78FC33 |
